How is the battery working?
The battery of the Cybook Gen3 and Opus are of Lithium Polymer type offering a capacity of 1000 mAh.
(For those 2 products, the battery can be changed if needed, as it is located in a compartment which can be opened easily. Only the batteries sold by Bookeen are accepted for the Cybook.)
The battery of the Cybook Orizon is of Lithium Polymer type offering a capacity of 1230 mAh. With a 10,000 page flips battery life.
The Cybook Odyssey has an internal rechargeable LI-Polymer battery (1650 mAh). It allows a large battery lifetime (around 25,000 continuous pages turned).
The battery is recharged via the Cybook USBconnector. The charging time is around 3 or 5 hours. You can recharge your battery via a connection with a computer or directly from a USBcharger provided by Bookeen.
The Cybook can run in several modes:
- Reading mode: the Cybook led is switched on and the processor is running at full speed. For the Cybook Gen3 and the Cybook Opus, while you play a MP3 file with the Cybook, the Cybook is running in this mode. In this mode the Cybook battery lifetime is reduced.
- Screensaver mode: The Cybook screen displays a random image or your personal image previously loaded - only for the Cybook Odyssey - (don't forget E Ink® screen can maintain an image without power consumption). In this mode the power consumption is very low but not nil. To reach this state, just slide the button or wait for the Cybook Odyssey or press the ON/OFF button for the other Cybook to reach this state after a timeout. This state is equivalent to sleep modes for a computer or a cell phone.
- Full Off mode: The Cybook screen is white with an icon displayed in the top right corner of the screen. In this mode the power consumption is very close to zero, your device is completely switched off (it can stay like this for several months). To reach this state, for the Cybook Orizon and the Cybook Odyssey, go on the Home Page, then Settings, then Advanced Shutdown. Answer Yes to the dialogbox, the screen will flash until reaching the white page with the bottom right corner icon. For the Cybook Gen3 and Cybook Opus, you just have to press the ON/OFF button for at least 2 seconds.
